Starting with sky in Germany

Apologies for my post in English but I speak no German yet. I have moved from England into a newly built house. We have the cable connections necessary for the installation of a satellite dish but haven't installed one yet.

We were now thinking of installing sky and noticed this:

If we get a package from Sky, do we need to install a dish at the moment? Will it become useless in the short term?

Also, do we need Sky to install the dish or can we do it ourselves? Do I need to buy a special type of dish?

Any information on this would be very useful.

At First: UK news are not relevant in Germany,  And no, dish will not become useless. You will need it to receive Sky here. To use the Skyq Box you will need minimum a twin LNB and a 60cm dish. Or are there more TVs to connect ?

Ever thougt about getting that work done by local specialists?

Thanks for the reply. So, from what you say Sky in Germany is not ditching the dish just yet.

I was thinking about local specialists, but I was wondering if it was cheaper for me to buy the dish and getting someone to install it.

Sky UK will also not stop with DVB-S.

It is not common here to buy the hardware yourselves and get it installed by a local TV specialist. Only if you have „someone“ to do that for you as a private service. Something like this maybe a solutio......depending on your requirements.
